Vegan Business

Created in 2020, the Association of Vegan Entrepreneurs of Mexico is a business community that seeks to empower consumers to adopt conscious and healthy lifestyles.

Our partners make plant-based and animal-based options accessible to the public to achieve balance with the Earth, the health of our bodies, and ethical interaction with the other living beings with whom we share the planet.

Our network of associates offers practical solutions to the urgent and decisive crisis that we are experiencing as humanity: products and services that transform our way of life from an unsustainable to a regenerative and harmonious one.

Animals

In the sanctuary we house about 500 animals of different species, mostly dogs rescued from abandonment in the streets, from neglect or abuse in their own homes, from kennels and from all kinds of situations of mistreatment and cruelty. We have also rescued a large number of animals considered companion such as cats, rabbits, turtles, birds, pigs and miniature pigs, reptiles, etc. as well as a significant number of animals from farms, such as cattle, pigs, goats, horses, chickens, roosters, turkeys, among others. We have rescued and participated in rescues, rehabilitation and release of various wild animals.

A very important part of our work is also to educate and raise awareness about animal cruelty, giving talks in schools, workplaces and events, in which topics such as the importance of sterilization and adoption, the proper care of pets, as well as about veganism, this being a lifestyle that seeks to do as little damage as possible to animals, the environment and even people's own health.

All dogs and dogs, cats and cats that come to our shelter are sterilized, rehabilitated and placed for adoption to responsible individuals and families. We have given hundreds of them up for adoption, not only in Cancun and the rest of the Mexican Republic, but also in the United States and Canada.

Unesco protected animal reserve located within the Natural Area of the El Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve (REBIVI), which is part of a great biological corridor that integrates islands, lagoons, coasts, plains and mountains of the central part of the peninsula of Baja California. Find diverse flora, fauna, and learn about the conservation history, historical and cultural relevance as well as the educational and recreational roles.

Refugio Holbox is the only animal shelter on the island, which means it's always a busy place. We consistently receive new animals in need of medical assistance and love. The shelter provides them with a temporary home while they receive the care they require.

We welcome visitors who want to see the shelter, spend time with the animals, or take the dogs for a walk. If you're interested in volunteering or making a donation to Refugio Holbox, please get in touch! The minimum stay is one month; for those who want to get away from all the stress.

Watch pink flamingos across the Yalahau Lagoon which seperates the island from the mainland.

Located in the central part of the peninsula of Baja California, the sanctuary contains some exceptionally interesting ecosystems. The coastal lagoons of Ojo de Liebre and San Ignacio are important reproduction and wintering sites for the grey whale, harbour seal, California sea lion, northern elephant-seal and blue whale. The lagoons are also home to four species of the endangered marine turtle.
